We stayed up all night to watch our Sprint-Queen Dafne Schippers compete in the final 100 m. Unfortunately she had to start in lane 9. We expected her to win a medal, but she didn’t do it. Later on we heard she had fysical problems for a few days. Poor Dafne!! But with the 200m. to come she will definitely rise again!
Earlier we saw Ranomi Kromowidjoro lose her 50m. swimfinal. Our Swim-Queen from the Games in London couldn’t manage to win a medal at all in Rio. Very sad.
But a new Dutch Queen was born: a bicycle-Queen. Elis Ligtlee won a GOLD medal on Keirin. Mighty Elis!
Do it Team NL!
Bio: Maaike & Brecht are two young up and coming coaches from the Netherlands. We first met the girls back in July when they volunteered for our Track & Field project at the European Athletic Championships. We saw hundreds of children over 5 days and Maaike and Brecht were an integral part of the team who delivered running, jumping and throwing sessions to all who took part. We have kept in touch with the girls and hope to have them part of the FCN for many more events in the future.Over the course of the Olympic Games, Maaike and Brecht will be sharing their experience of watching the Games from the comfort of their home in Makkinga (Netherlands) and sharing their excitement of their favourite Olympians from Team Netherlands.
