Sunday marked the final day of the preliminary rounds for the women’s basketball program in the 2016 Olympics. There was three great matches.
First up was China vs the USA where once again the USA came out on top with a final score of 105-62. China was lead by Mengran Sun who had 16 points. Once again the USA had all players contributing points to the team with Tina Charles and Brittney Griner scoring 18 points each.
Next up was Senegal vs Serbia. In this well fought math coach Marina Maljkovic lead her Serbian team to a 95-88 victory. Astou Traore lead Senegal with an impressive 38 min of play and 30 points. Sonja Petrovic lead Serbia with 20 points.
Last up was Canada vs Spain with a final score of 73-60. Spain had 8 players who got playing time all of which scored this game however Alba Torrens lead the pack with 20 points. The Canadian team spread its scoring out with many players with 7-9 points however Nirra Fields lead them with 13 points.
