British Coach Series- Carol Jackson

 

 

Biography 

Carol bean coaching High Jump in 1974 at the request and under the watchful eye of Eric Laxen and worked with Mark Naylor as he tool the British Record from 2:11m to 2:25m.  The squad in those days included other internationals including Tony Llewelyn, Colin Harris and Denise Brown.  Carol had such a great mentor in Eric and she learned her trade over many years with him and was hooked on the event!

As Carol Ventured out on her own in the mid 90’s she started coaching at St Albans.  Since then she has had the honour to help over 150 athletes achieve their dreams – be in County Level, win an English Schools Title, represent their country at Global Junior or Senior Level, or to help on their way to World, Olympic and European medals.  From Mark Crowley, Robbie Grabarz, Chris Baker, Alan Mckie, Sam Bailey, and now on to the new stars of tomorrow, Carol has always lived by the philosophy that “regardless of ability if an athlete achieves their dream whilst having fun”, she has done her job.

Carol is currently working with groups of talented athletes at Lee Valley, Bedford and Loughborough and is the brainchild behind the athlete’s favourite competition, BIG, held at Bedford Stadium which has been going for 24 years.
