Women’s Gridiron Foundation joins the FCN in supporting Lee Brandon

Back in November 2020, we met Lee Brandon, the forgotten first female coach of the NFL. Lee is a strength & conditioning coach who, back in 1990, was hired by the New York Jets to work alongside the S&C team to coach the players.

During our interview with Lee, she shared with us the story of how she was hired, her coaching journey since working with the Jets, and why she is pushing for recognition for her history making hiring.

To support Lee in her mission for recognition, the Women’s Gridiron Foundation have offered their support:

“After conducting our own research, interviews, and carefully reviewing the public information available, the Women’s Gridiron Foundation fully supports the recognition of Lee Brandon’s tenure with the New York Jets organization as their Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 1990 and 1991 seasons.Ms. Brandon was the first female hired in the NFL to serve in this capacity. We salute her “first” as we do those of all women who have and continue to bridge the gender gap at all levels of the sport of American football, whether as a player, coach, executive or administrator.”
