Judy Murray is known to speak her mind – and the former Fed Cup coach has spoken out against one of Scotland’s biggest tennis centres for demoting a coach who returned from work after having a baby, reports the Daily Mail.
Writing on Twitter, Murray commented, “When a young head coach at one of Scotland’s biggest clubs returns to work after having a baby….and discovers she has been demoted and her hours reduced. WITHOUT ANY CONSULTATION.
#everydaysexism.’ It’s shameful. No wonder it’s so tough to encourage women into sports coaching. No salaried jobs, no security, no career pathways…’You can see why so few women hold senior positions in sport when they’re forced to choose between motherhood and work.’ Murray is known for voicing her strong views on women’s equality and her opinions have also influenced her sons, Andy Murray and Jamie Murray.
Andy Murray has often voiced his own views supporting women’s equality and is one of the few top male players, who have come out in support of women’s equality in tennis. Working mothers have become a hot topic in tennis recently with the return of Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka after having a baby last year.
