New Nike ad features Becky Hammon and Cheryl Reeve
During the commercial break of this years Oscars, Nike aired their brand new advert showcasing some of the greatest female athletes, leaders and coaches.
The athlete aims to redefine what it is to call a sportswoman crazy.
Amongst the athlete names such as Serena Williams and Caster Semenya, Nike also included two female coaches – Becky Hammon and Cheryl Reeve.
Becky Hammon Bio:
Becky Hammon is an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and a retired professional basketball player. Hammon played for the San Antonio Stars and New York Liberty of the Women’s National Basketball Association, as well as multiple basketball teams outside of the United States. Becky, who was born and grew up in the United States, became a naturalised Russian citizen in 2008 and represented the Russian national team in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
On August 5, 2014, Becky was hired by the Spurs as an assistant coach, becoming the second female assistant coach in NBA history, and the first full-time assistant coach. This also makes her the first full-time female assistant coach in any of the four major professional sports in North America. On July 3, 2015, the Spurs announced that Becky would be the team’s Summer League head coach, the first woman to be a head coach in that league. Becky led the Spurs to the Las Vegas Summer League title on July 20, 2015.
Cheryl Reeve Bio:
Cheryl Reeve is a basketball head coach and general manager for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. She has coached the Lynx to four league championships. In WNBA history, she has the highest winning percentage, she won the most games of any female coach, and she won the most postseason games of any coach. Reeve was named the WNBA Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2016.
