The Female Coaching Network have teamed up with WHOOP to deliver “Preparation for Paris” – a pioneering programme aimed at supporting coaches who are embarking upon next years Olympic and Paralympic Games.
When we think about performance, we often only consider the athletes themselves and overlook the immense pressure and stress that face elite coaches. Whether it be team selections, managing expectations, competition preparation, or balancing coaching duties and family life, we all know being a coach can be stressful! And yet, as coaches, we are often seen as the source of the solutions as opposed to needing help ourselves. But here at the FCN, we recognise the pressures and stress that come with working in an elite environment and we want to help.
We are therefore launching our brand new project Preparation for Paris and have teamed up with WHOOP, the most advanced fitness and health wearable available, to support up to 50 female coaches around the Globe with what could potentially be the most stressful year of their coaching careers to date!
The aim of the project is to provide Olympic and Paralympic coaches with a number of tools helping them to optimise their own performances throughout 2024 and be ready when the moment arrives in Paris. Throughout the programme, participating coaches will be provided with a WHOOP strap and membership to capture their body’s key performance data, helping them to understand how to unlock their potential.
In addition, facilitated by Vice President of Performance at WHOOP and former NCAA D1 Head Hockey Coach Kristen Holmes, coaches will be invited to attend a programme of webinars delivered by industry leading experts to address topics such as circadian health, stress / rest management, nutrition & hydration and strain & training.
Those participating will also be part of a global network of high performance female coaches from a variety of sports and nations, all with the same goal of reaching and performing at the Games in 2024.
“This is such an exciting opportunity for coaches to understand how these environmental pressures and stresses in the lead up to Paris affect their own performances. For WHOOP to provide such phenomenal support, not only through the use of the WHOOP strap, but also by allowing us to engage with their industry leading experts is simply a one of a kind opportunity that not many coaches would have access to. I am looking forward to following the journeys of the coaches involved.”
